Liverpool are one of England's most decorated and internationally supported clubs, with 19 league titles and six European Cups. Following Jürgen Klopp's departure in 2024, Arne Slot has taken charge of a squad rebuilt for a new competitive era while preserving the intense, possession-forward football of the previous decade.

Founded in 1892 as a breakaway from Everton, Liverpool won their first league title in 1901 but their defining era came under Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley in the 1960s, 70s and 80s — with four European Cups between 1977 and 1984. The 1990s brought decline before Rafa Benitez's 2005 miracle in Istanbul, and Klopp's 2019 sixth European title and 2020 Premier League triumph ended a 30-year league drought.

Arne Slot's first full season builds on a Klopp squad that peaked in 2019-20. Mohamed Salah remains the central attacking figure, Virgil van Dijk continues to marshal the defence, and the club has invested heavily in restructuring the midfield around Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch.
