Corrections Policy

Journalism is a first draft. This page explains how we correct, update and clarify articles on LiveFootbal.com and how you can request a correction.

Substantive corrections

A substantive correction is a change that alters a factual claim in an article: a wrong scoreline, an incorrect goal-scorer, a mis-stated transfer fee, a mis-quoted player, or a mistake in a statistical claim. When we make a substantive correction:

  • The affected passage is updated in the body of the article.
  • The "Updated" timestamp shown next to the byline is refreshed.
  • A note explaining what changed is appended at the foot of the article.

Live match updates

Live match articles are updated continuously during and after a fixture: goals, cards, substitutions, VAR decisions and final scores. We do not append a correction note for routine live updates.

Minor edits

Typographical fixes, formatting changes and small clarifications that do not alter a factual claim are made silently and do not refresh the "Updated" timestamp.

Retractions

If an article is found to be substantially incorrect and cannot be reasonably repaired, we retract it. Retracted articles are replaced with a short notice explaining that the piece has been withdrawn and, where possible, linking to a corrected version.

Requesting a correction

If you believe an article on LiveFootbal.com contains an inaccuracy, please contact us via the Contact page. Please include:

  • The article URL.
  • The passage you believe is inaccurate.
  • The source that supports the correction (a link where possible).

We aim to review correction requests within one working day. You do not need to be the subject of the article to request a correction.
