Manchester United are England's most successful club by trophies won and one of the most globally recognised sporting brands. Twenty-time league champions and three-time European Cup winners, they are rebuilding under Ineos minority ownership after more than a decade of transition since Sir Alex Ferguson's 2013 retirement.

Founded in 1878 as Newton Heath, the club nearly went bankrupt before being renamed Manchester United in 1902. The 1958 Munich air disaster shaped the club's identity, and Sir Matt Busby rebuilt them into the first English European Cup winners in 1968. Sir Alex Ferguson's 26-year reign (1986-2013) produced 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions Leagues.

United are in a multi-year rebuild after successive top-four misses. Ineos have taken control of football operations and restructured recruitment, coaching and academy pathways. The squad has been reshaped around a younger, more physically balanced core.
