Club overview

Bayern Munich are Germany's most successful club and one of Europe's continuous elite. Thirty-four-time German champions and six-time European Cup / Champions League winners, they set the modern German record with 11 consecutive Bundesliga titles from 2013 to 2023.

History

Founded in 1900, Bayern's first golden era came under Franz Beckenbauer in the 1970s with three consecutive European Cups (1974-76). The Louis van Gaal / Jupp Heynckes era of the 2010s produced the 2013 treble, and the 2020 Champions League triumph under Hansi Flick completed a second sextuple within seven years.

Current season

Bayern remain the standard of the Bundesliga after Bayer Leverkusen's 2023-24 title interruption. Head coach Vincent Kompany is rebuilding the tactical identity around Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise while integrating a younger defensive core.

Manager

Vincent Kompany — in charge since May 2024. Belgian former Manchester City captain who managed Burnley to the Championship title. Known for possession-based football with aggressive counter-pressing.

Playing style

4-2-3-1 with high press and structured build-up. Kompany's Bayern combine short passing sequences from the goalkeeper with quick vertical progression through Musiala, Olise and Kane.

Key players

  • Jamal Musiala (Attacking midfielder) — Homegrown creator and one of the most valuable young players in world football.
  • Joshua Kimmich (Midfielder) — Germany captain and long-standing on-pitch leader.
